Math Problem Solving II (Grade 4-5)
When: 5:30 -6:45 pm on Friday
Who: 4-5th grade students
Introduction:
This class will go beyond what is taught in school and help students develop problem solving tactics and critical thinking skills. It will expose students to the beauty of problem solving, and foster mathematical creativity and genuine interest. This class will be paced to prepare the students for national math competitions for elementary school students: Math Olympiad Division E (monthly contests from November to March) and Math Kangaroo (a single contest in March).

· Fractions
· Counting/ Probability
· Geometry
· Word Problems
· Equations
· Logic Reasoning and Puzzle
About the Instructor:
Emily Wen is a rising sophomore at Enloe High School, and has loved math as long as she can remember. She earned a perfect score on the SAT Math Section as a 7th grader and was on the AMC 8 Distinguished Honor Roll. In 8th grade she led her school team to win State MATHCOUNTS, and individually placed 3rd in the state. She was one of four students who represented NC in the National MATHCOUNTS competition last year. She has qualified for the AIME (American Invitation Mathematics Examination) the past several years and is a member of the NC teams that compete in ARML (American Regions Mathematics League).
