Class Description:
This course builds the foundation for strong academic writing in middle school and beyond. Students learn how to organize ideas, write clear thesis statements, and support their points with evidence. They will practice expository and argumentative essays, with an emphasis on structure, clarity, and logic.
About the Instructor:
Ms. Miriam is an English educator with strong training from UC Berkeley and NC State University. She has extensive experience supporting K– 8 students in reading fluency, comprehension, and literacy development through individualized instruction. As a director and mentor in Berkeley’s BUILD program, she has coached mentors, designed literacy lessons, and worked directly with young readers to strengthen foundational skills and build confidence. Miriam brings patience, clarity, and a student-centered approach to every class she teaches.
