Class Description:
This course combines public speaking, speech writing, and debate to build strong communication skills. Students learn how to organize speeches, use voice and body language effectively, and present confidently in front of others. They also practice persuasive and argumentative writing that supports their spoken presentations.
About the Instructor:
Mr. Friedman holds degrees in English and Philosophy from Washington and Lee University and a Master’s in Modern American Literature. After teaching at several colleges, he spent 20 years at Cardinal Gibbons High School in Raleigh, where he taught AP English Language and Composition and guided students in writing and college essay preparation. In 2014, he received the Susan Scott Daly Excellence in Teaching Award and also founded the Coffeehouse Club, giving students a space to share their creativity.
